Bio

Eckart Meiburg is Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California Santa Barbara, where he also directs the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Fluids. Professor Meiburg's research interests lie in the general area of fluid dynamics and transport phenomena, with a particular emphasis on highly resolved simulations of multiphase flows. He has received a Presidential Young Investigator Award, a Humboldt Senior Research Award in Germany, a Senior Gledden Fellowship at the Institute of Advanced Studies at the University of Western Australia, a Shimizu Visiting Professorship at Stanford University, a Lady Davis Fellowship at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and an Erskine Fellowship at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. He was the Lorenz G. Straub Award Keynote Speaker at the University of Minnesota, and the Ronald F. Probstein Lecturer at MIT. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society and of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. In 2017-18 he served as chair of the Division of Fluid Dynamics of the American Physical Society.
