Title

Implementation and application of a generalized wall model

Abstract

A generalized wall stress function that introduces the non-equilibrium effect in turbulent flow is applied to performing high Reynolds number large-eddy simulations (LES) of wall bounded flow in the presence of favorable and adverse pressure gradients. The corrected velocity with pressure gradient contribution is used to calculate the wall stress. The model applies to the entire viscous layer, buffer layer and inertial region. In this work, a few examples of complex turbulent flows are presented to show the performance of the generalized wall function. Flow over periodic hill and flow over a cylinder are simulated with the present model. The results show that it is able to accurately predict the main character of flow filed in both cases.
