Title

Real-Time Laser Diagnostics of Temperature and Species Concentrations in Industrial Processes for Digital Twin–Based Control

Abstract

Thermal-fluid dynamics technologies are widely employed in industrial processes, including automotive, aerospace, and construction machinery, where the importance of carbon neutrality and efficient energy utilization has been increasingly recognized. In this context, real-time measurement and analysis of temperature, species concentrations, and elemental composition as digital data are essential for advanced monitoring and control of thermal-fluid processes.
Laser-based diagnostic techniques have recently attracted significant attention as high-sensitivity and fast-response measurement methods, enabling their application to a wide range of industrial processes. This study presents the application of temperature and species diagnostics using Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) and Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) in industrial processes. Furthermore, a digital twin–based framework for process prediction and control is proposed through integration with simulation technologies such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
